Kiran Bandla…  is a Security Researcher at CA/HCL. Sameer Ratolikar… is based in Mumbai and heads security at one of India’s largest banks.  

S Krishna Kumar …  retired from State Bank of India(SBI) as GM (IT) & CISO.  Among the  earliest  CISAs in India (1995), career banker of 36 years experience in India and overseas, he had set up the Information Security Dept in SBI, in 2004, with a slew of initiatives such as Security Policies, Standards, and Procedures, Roles & Responsibilities for Information Security,  ISO 27001:2005 certification for Data Centre, Disaster Recovery centre, ATM & Internet Banking. Currently engaged in  IT & IS Security consulting for BFSI.

Aseem Jakhar...A security researcher and system programmer by profession, Open source and security evangelist by choice. Have designed and developed various security modules including content filtering engines, firewall, Multicast packet reflector, captive protal for web user authentication, HTTPS URL filtering MitM proxy to name a few, and worked on many enterprise security products/appliances. Speaker at security and open source conferences. Some of the premier conferences where I have presented include: BlakHat Europe 2008, clubHack 2008, Gnunify 2007 and 2009, Xcon Beijing 2009.

Murtuja Bharmal ... is a Linux Kernel and Network Security maniac and works as a Senior System Engineer at IBM. He has been contributing in the development of various Network Security products like Firewall, VPN, Application Proxies, Authentication Modules for the past 5 years. He has single handedly developed firewall product and got it compliant with ICSA-Labs and also has expertise in customization, security-patching and integration of open source products like SQUID, IPTables, VRRP, OpenSwan.

Wasim Halani... CPH, is a Security Analyst in the Technical Assessment team at NII Consulting focusing on VA/PT. He has successfully carried out a number of Network, Web-Application and Business-Logic PT asignments. Well-versed with the OWASP methodology, Security Assessments and Wireless Assessment and he is also providing training services as an Associate Trainer

Project .. Continuing with the Nepenthes Honeypot and moving into more complex HP architectures. The aim of starting this HP was to study attack vectors and new malwares on the Internet especially in India.

Project(s)… Would love to be part of a honeypot project. Haven't got the time to lead one myself, but feel i can contribute in the technical space significantly.

Rishi Narang ... B.Tech (I.T.) is a Security Researcher with Trend Micro Inc. in Bangalore. His work includes research on recent & zero day vulnerabilities, reverse engineering and IDS/IPS Signature Development. He was the first to report a working PoC for Google Chrome Browser and has authored articles on recent advances in Information Security & Research. Is closely associated with Hakin9 Magazine (International Edition) and has been a speaker at OWASP (Mumbai Chapter) and EsurakshIT 2009. 

Project.. is interested in Traffic and PCAP Analysis, Samples, Inline Detection etc. Has been working on a small Honeypot for nearly 10 months now and has a lab setup with some VMs & Capture HPC client. Unfortunately the project had to be (recently) suspended due to the lack of URLs to feed and his scripts are still not ready to crawl the web.

Though he is researching on malware as well as 0-day exploits that are pushed via WWW or drive-by-download he is more inclined towards the underlying obfuscated javascripts and if they can be heuristically captured on the wire.

Abhilash Sani… is fascinated in acquiring and learning knowledge about malware analysis and is currently reading a bit about Nepenthes, a low interaction Honeypot. He is very interested in exploring its tremendous features as well.

Rakesh Goyal… is a perpetual student in Information Security and Forensics since 1991. In this process, he has written 6 books and over 50 papers / articles on IT Security. He is Director-General of 'Center for Research and Prevention of Computer Crimes' and Editor of CCCNews Newsletter, CCCNews Magazine and www.cccnews.in. Abhisek Sanyal… in Bangalore. I have worked for a couple of years in the Open Source Domain and have played the role of a technical architect, programmer, systems integrator etc. I still have a long way to go in the field of Open Source and Security. I also suffer from the "When there is a problem, then there is a solution" syndrome :)

Dharm Singh… in New Delhi. A technocrat having multi-pronged exposure to information security with Master’s degree in software engineering from one of the best Institutes imparting technical education in India. Have published various research publications in information security domain across India and abroad. Expertise’s in information security, intrusion prevention, intrusion detection, vulnerability research, malware research, threat analysis, application security. Holds Master of Engineering degree from BITS, Ranchi in year 2006, has done one year of research project at IIT-Roorkee in Honeynet Technologies. Having more than 5 years of experience in information and network security currently serving a leading MNC and imparting the information security principles for the organization.

Pavan Shah… in Milwaukee, Interested in Security research,penetration testing and web aplication vulnerabilities. I am interested to contribute in Indian chapter of honeynet project for any research activities based on honeypots.I am interested to setup honeypot sensor at my home or participate in any project currently being planned by this group.

Rohit Srivastwa… Rohit Srivastwa is a well known security evangelist, having an expertise in hacking, cyber crime investigation and IT infrastructure management.

He is actively involved in advising and assisting several military agencies, law enforcement personnel, media, corporate and Government bodies. He provides coaching and training to the Police department of Pune, Mauritius and Malaysia on the related subjects. He is also a visiting faculty at Asian School of Cyber Laws, Symbiosis and many other institutes.

Rohit Srivastwa is the founder of “ClubHack”, a community to provide a platform to the security experts across the globe to come together. Objective of ClubHack is to spread awareness in common people. As the motto says “Making security a common sense”

Dhruv Soi… in NOIDA, working with Torrid Networks. Is a regular contributor and supporter to different open communities and a strong follower of open source ecology. Leads OWASP Delhi. Not having a Honeynet setup but wish to.

Suresh  Singh… in NOIDA, would like to work to enhance the security level of Indian environment and IT. Not having a Honeynet project but would like to work and contribute to any ongoing projects.

Rama    Subramaniam… in Chennai, is Principal Consultant at Valiant Technologies; Adjunct Professor of Cyber Criminology at University of Madras; Chairman and Trustee, Information Security and Cyber Crimes Research Foundation.

Rakesh Mukundan… in Chennai, I am basically from an electronics background, so I have good exposure with hardware. From my second year in colleague I have been into security field. I have developed a FPGA based NIDS and currently working on wifi- honeypot.

Well I have planned to start a honeypot with few friends but it didn't work out. Now I am relocated to Chennai, here I have plans to start a wireless honeypot. But currently I don't have any honeypot running. Would love to work with IHP groups. I believe in providing right information at right time, for that we need to increase the co-operation b/n various HP chapters and decided upon a common format to share data. Then only we will be able to combat the ever-growing cyber threats.

Ponnurangam Kumaraguru (PK)… in Delhi. Assistant Professor at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). Is a Ph.D. from the School of Computer Science at CMU. His research interests include developing technological and inter-disciplinary solutions to reduce computer crime, information security, malware analysis, cyber crime, trust, and human computer interaction. He is serving as a Program Co-Chair for the International Conference on Collaboration, Electronic messaging, Anti-Abuse and Spam (CEAS, 2010) and he is on the Program Committee of Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS, 2010). He is also serving as a reviewer for International Journal of Information Security and ACM's Transactions on Internet Technology (TOIT).

I am interested in providing a research bent to this activity (e.g. developing a framework to collect empirical data that can be used to analyze the cyber crime situation in India). In particular, I am interested in the Malware Analysis, Data Visualization, and Social Networking projects.

Justin Jacob… in Mumbai. Been involved in certain security related projects like FPGA based NIDS. Also have some experience with Backtrack, nmap, nessus. A Linux and network enthusiast.

Kartik Shinde… in Mumbai. I have been an active contributor to the Honeynet project when it started about 5-6 years back, it was interesting to solve the Scan of the month (SOTM) challenges. It’s good to see the India Honeynet site, I would definitely contribute in any way I can ..

Kartik is a Honeynet enthusiast and has contributed to the project when it started - "Scan of the months" or SOTM's and has played extensively with honeyd as much as his PSP ;)

Hrishikesh Murali… in Bangalore

I am doing my seventh semester in B.Tech, Computer Science And Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam Kerala. I am very interested in the field of cybersecurity and have participated in CIPHER5 and HARCTF, which are international Capture The Flag (CTF) style competitions and were placed twenty second and fourteenth worldwide respectively. I am interested in being a part of the Honeynet Development project as I am into the field of network security and am familiar with network analyzing softwares like wireshark, and also have worked with a linux environment for the past four years. I have read the project description and am deeply interested to be a part of it.

Project Plans:  I am interested in joining the Honeynet Deployment project in the Delhi region, as I am interested in the study of botnets and how they function.

Siva Gnanam… in Chennai. I don't have any honeynet project yet. Doing malware analysis. Am curious to analyze botnets as I feel I am doing same(analysis) all the time. I want to share my free time here in an useful way.

Aman Sharma…  in Chennai. Currently, I am not working with any of the Honeynet projects, but will feel honored if i am allowed to work on honeypot projects. I am interested in penetration testing and analysis of DOS attacks. I am 3 yr student, pursuing my bachelors in computer science and engineering. I have very keen interest in field of infosec and network securities.

Project: Have special interest in DOS attacks. I like to make my future in field of infosec.

Nishant Das Patnaik… in Bhubaneswar, he is a 21 year old IT security serial-entrepreneur and evangelist. He specializes in penetration testing and cyber crime investigation. Actively involved in advising law enforcement personnel, media, corporate and Government bodies in these fields. He is also involved in teaching related subjects and has trained the police departments of Bhubaneswar. He is the Founder-President of National Ethical Hackers Association, a member driven community to spread the security awareness. He is also the Co-Founder & Executive Director, Innovate7 Technologies an Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Firewall solutions company to end-users along with providing managed IT security services e.g. network/wi-fi/bluetooth penetration testing, vulnerability assessment. Nishant has been in the media during numerous occasions, most spectacular was when Nishant appeared on the front-page of Times of India, for discovering 38 Govt. Websites vulnerable to hacking. Nishant has been awarded as the Youth Icon of Orissa 2009 by 93.5 RedFM. So far he has trained more than 3000 engineers across India and quite many working professionals.

Manish Chasta…in Mumbai. I just want to work with IHP. I came to know about this project at OWASP conference held in Mumbai this year.

Anurag Khanna… in Pune. Working on  VA/PT(web and network), intrusion detection. Prevention, Risk Management , Network design and Network security.

Project: Looking forward to work  with any of the groups in IHP and then start one personal honeynet project.

Gatta Sambasivara… in Hyderabad. Knowledge is power which provides technical independence.

I am  passionate about honeynet project since 2001 and contacted Mr.Lance. I was working with C-DAC that time but could not able to get success on this proposal. During that time Faiz already started honeypot at pakistan (karachi) but my bosses did not approve as they had apprehensions on NW surveillance. My area of research is NW Surveillance open source tools and setup NW security research lab.I have done work on personal level and wish to see India should have AirCERT to address our security concerns.

I'm a an Open source software evangelist and loved the philosophy of HP of *open source and sharing security research and development knowledge with the community* and want to start a honeynet project !

Rahul Kashyap... in Santa Clara. I've been involved with infosec/security industry ~ a decade involving design and dev of security products, pen testing, reverse engineering and vuln research.
